Here are a few things I’ve spotted around the web that you can check out:

* Print out a Mother’s Day card right now! Pick one that you really think your mom will like. Don’t see one? Get creative and use your computer or crayons or whatever else and make your own!

* Send your mom this link and she can listen to songs about mothers compiled by NPR. Make this so much more personal by dedicating one special song to her.

* If you have some craft items, make your mom one of these flower pins. Make it in her favorite color!

* Remember making your hand prints when you were little for your mom? Head to any store that has art supplies (CVS, Walgreens and others should be open) and pick up some kids water-based paints (water color paints will work well, just apply them full strength to your hands) and make your mom the adult version of this gift. Make it really special by making this with her! Each of you make a print that overlaps slightly to make it look like you are “holding hands” on the paper. Get it framed for her after your special print has dried.

* Or follow these tips from yesterday’s post.

Whatever you do or give to your mom, make sure that you inject a lot of love into your thoughts and gifts for her to let her know how much you care.

Happy gifting!

Puzzle toys are great fun for dogs and I highly recommend them as gifts! The base of the Kong Wobbler is weighted so that it will always return to its upright position so your recipient will really get in a nice session of play while they get their meal or treats. This type of gift add variety and excitement to meal time or helps alleviate boredom on a rainy day (or any day!).

To see a video of the Kong Wobbler in action, click here!

The toy is sturdy and made out of FDA, food safe, high-strength polymer so, like other Kong toys, it should last. The Kong Wobbler is dishwasher safe but was very easy to clean up by hand. Almost any dog that is food motivated and over ten pounds will enjoy this toy! It is fun without being too challenging so your doggy friend needn’t be a canine genius to enjoy this gift.

Not that dogs are going to be too concerned with how you make this gift personal, but you can easily make this more personal for the dog’s owner by giving this gift with some super-yummy treats and some fun, dog related gift for the human too!

I was impressed with the minimal, fuss-free packaging. No special tools required to get this toy ready for play and less packaging is always a plus for the environment!

Interested in other dog related gift ideas? Check out, Isabelle’s Picks!

I was just about to walk out the door yesterday and saw a big box sitting on the porch. I was ever so curious but didn’t have time to investigate since I was on my way to a doctors appointment so I brought it inside so that I could open it when I returned.
Although the sun wasn’t out when my appointment was over it had at least stopped raining, so Isabelle and I went for an nice long walk and then headed to the park, where she proceeded to get wet and muddy playing with three other cute dogs.

Finally back home I saw the package once again and wasted no time opening it! I was pretty sure, judging from the address, that I knew what was inside but still, I was excited to open it up to confirm my suspicions.

Well, I wasn’t prepared for what I was about to find! A whole entire gift basket of all natural face and body products!

Here are the products that I found nestled in the pretty basket I received:

Mother’s Milk Daily Cleanser ($8.00)

So Nutty Facial Cleanser ($8.00)

Start Fresh Facial Scrub ($8.00)

My Sugar Daddy Face and Body Scrub ($9.00)

Empress Alix Oil ($12.00)

Nx3 Cuticle Cream ($10.00)

Salty Dog Scrub ($12.00)

Sweet Cheeks Scrub ($12.00)

Generous amounts of the products come packaged in nice glass jars, reminiscent of jelly jars and each one is labelled with a refreshingly simple list of ingredients. For example: The Start Fresh Facial Scrub contains roasted, black eyed peas and love. My Sugar Daddy Face and Body Scrub contains roasted barley, date sugar, espresso, cinnamon, what germ, brown sugar and love. In fact, every single one of Hilary’s products are that natural! You won’t find anything unpronounceable or questionable for your health and when it lists “love” as one of the ingredients, given the care and attention to detail she has obviously put into it, I believe that she did make them with love.

Because I just received the package, I haven’t had time to try everything, but I did use the Mother’s Milk Daily Cleanser and the Empress Alix Oil. My verdict! So far so good. Both products smell wonderful and fresh without any added fragrance and they felt nice on my skin. I plan on using these exclusively on my face and body for at least the next week so that I can really see how they work but I have a good hunch about Hilary 2 Organic products! I look forward to keeping you updated as I try each gift. Bonus: My boyfriend liked the subtle fragrance of rose on my skin after I applied the Empress Alix Oil!

Hilary will have her website and online store set up soon but, if you want to get these products now (great gift for Mother’s Day!) you can contact her via e-mail.

This sort of gift is wonderful for anyone who prefers to use natural products, either because they are concerned about what goes onto their body or because of the environmental impact that big manufacturers have. All of H2O’s containers are reusable or recyclable and the products are made right in her own home with love and care. This gift would also be wonderful to pamper a loved one or for someone who may need a little gift to encourage a bit of relaxation and self-nurturing. Because these gifts are made by Hilary herself, you can easily personalize a gift by creating a gift basket of items for your recipient.

I want to give both Hilary, the maker of these fine products, and Jeremy Foster-Fell and his wife Diane a huge thank you for being so kind as to arrange this generous gift!!!

Happy gifting!

At the end of the week, Alex, Isabelle and I, will be travelling to Santa Fe, New Mexico! I am really looking forward to our mini-adventure and, to make it even more special, I’ve gotten a couple of gifts to give to Alex each day in anticipation of our trip. Most are just small things, but all will serve to make the trip nicer in some way while letting him know how much I love him!
