Don’t live in the Boston area but still want to give a gift? Please consider dropping off some of the suggested items (list below) at your local shelter, making a donation to the ASPCA or, if this just isn’t your cup o’tea and you need a birthday, Valentine’s, housewarming or some other type of present, visit one of my older posts for some great gift ideas or hire me for special sleuthing services! You don’t have to donate all your time to hand out dinners on Thanksgiving day, you don’t have to spend money you don’t have. If you can just donate ONE item or even ONE dollar you can make a positive difference.
Of course, if you have the time and inclination – go for it! Spend Thanksgiving with those less fortunate or give a hefty donation to a charity, however, don’t make the mistake of thinking that you have to do something big to do something extraordinary.

What is a gift that can help the environment and is free? I thought of a wonderful way to help you celebrate Earth Day! The simple act of donating your unused items to a charity. If you have things that are in good condition and you donate them to a charity, you are keeping items out of landfills, allowing them to be used by somebody else who may need those items and you are helping a charity all at the same time. This is truly a gift you should can feel good about giving. Many communities have churches and organizations that accept donations of furniture, clothing, books, medical supplies, used and surplus building materials and other household items.
