Despite the iPad’s horrifying name, I would be remiss if I didn’t talk about the potential joy you could give someone by wrapping up this not-quite-iPod, not-quite-netbook bit of delight.
The iPad is more of a luxury gift and I’m categorizing it under Toy Tuesday because, let’s face it, anyone who gets a new gadget that they have been looking forward to feels like a kid on Christmas, whether it is a new phone, new computer, new mp3 player…it is the delight of learning all of the new features, the ability to get apps and just feeling like you’ve got a neat new accessory to help you power through work and play.

My upcoming trip to Santa Fe has me thinking about all things travel related and, with Toy Tuesday being a regular feature, I wanted to think of a great travel toy or game.
The problem I encountered while I was brainstorming was that I wanted something that could encompass different ages, packed light, could be done no matter the form of travel (for instance, Bananagrams is portable and anybody who can spell can play, but do you see playing this with your kids in the car or on a plane?) and didn’t have pieces to lose. At this point, you might be thinking, “Gee whiz, Alyna, good luck coming up with something…”, right?
